The Louisiana Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (LCLPPP) is a program of the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, Section of Environmental Epidemiology and Toxicology. Our program’s goals are to:
– Eliminate childhood lead poisoning in Louisiana
– Ensure that all healthcare providers test children under the age of six for lead in their blood
– Reduce or eliminate lead in the home by testing homes and properties for lead hazards
– Coordinate care for children affected by lead poisoning.

Our comprehensive Pediatrics Program including primary care pediatricians and pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists (Ochsner Children’s™) represents over 230 physicians. The group is the region’s leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. We offer a full range of pediatric complex specialty services including congenital heart surgery and cardiac transplantation, liver and bone marrow transplantation, a comprehensive surgical sub-specialty group, and the region’s only comprehensive multidisciplinary developmental center.
We recently announced the building of a new separate, comprehensive, dedicated Children’s Hospital on our main campus, with expected opening in 2027.
